Mung beans are originally native of India, even though they have been domesticated in several other parts of the world, especially in Asian countries. In India, mung beans are used for making split Indian moong dals. Mung bean is also called by other names like green gram, or simply mung. In China and Hong Kong, moong beans are used to make desserts and ice creams. Meanwhile, in Indian regional cuisines, they are used to make moong dal soups.
